Clothes - 31 Jan 2015
I'm feeling fatter now at 15 11 than I did at 16 5. I can only assume that's because I was in massive denial!
Dresses
Black and white stripes - will still fit at 15 stone
Black dress with daisies - will still fit at 15 stone
Purple / blue / black dress -will still fit at 15 stone
Long black dress - currently too tight - try on again at 15 stone.
Black / red / cream dress - bit tight - will look better at 15 stone
Given that the first three dresses are tight at 15 11, I don't know how I squeezed into them at 16 5.
Trousers
Black straight leg jeans - might be too big at 15 stone
Black bootleg jeans - might be too big at 15 stone
Gym trousers - will still fit at 15 stone
Black and peacock trousers - tight - will look better at 15 stone
Leggings
2 black - will still fit at 15 stone
Red - will still fit at 15 stone
Dungarees
Pink and purple - too tight. Try on again at 15 stone

End of the first month - 29 Jan 2015

New Year's Resolution. I said I'd post my weight on the last day of each month of 2015, but I'm heading off to visit my parents, so am doing it a couple of days early this month.
31 Dec 2014 - 16 stone 5 lb
29 Jan 2015 - 15 stone 11 lb
31 Dec 2014 - 16 stone 5 lb
29 Jan 2015 - 15 stone 11 lb
But more importantly I do feel a bit fitter. Two days ago I walked 9 miles in one day (including two coffee stops). I've been introduced to Jazzercise by Gillian, been up Millstone Hill with Catriona, and ceilidhed with John.
Looking forward to February!
I've done a few calculations:
BMI down from 38.1 to 36.7. The NHS scale is mean. It showed 38.1 at the very top end of obese and now it shows 36.7 at the very top end of obese. If I lose 6lbs in Feb, then I'll be 35.7 - again at the very top end of obesity.
Weight in kilos down from 103.9 to 100.2. - Just need to lose another lb and I'll be below 100kg.

Walked 8 miles - 27 Jan 2015
Yesterday I was all ready to go to my third Jazzercise, but John was slightly late, and I've have got there after the warm-up. So I went to the gym with John instead. Traffic was slow, and there was a queue at reception, then both exercise bikes were in use and the rowing machine was out of order.
So I went on the cross-trainer. It took 10 mins at 5mph to do one mile (?) and burn 32 calories. And the background music was irritating.
Today i thought I have to do something drastic. I walked to the Acorn Centre -4 miles. Had a pot of tea and a toilet stop, bought some stuff from the Fair Trade Shop. Went to the Garioch Heritage Centre and walked home - 4 miles. So 8 miles in total. Took 1 hr 20 mins to get there, and about the same time to walk back. Including the stops, 3 1/2 hours.
Feeling stiff now.
Contemplating clothes - I think it will be the end of March before I start wearing smaller things.

How much do I spend on confectionary?
You Gov has just asked me how much I spend on sweets each month and I guestimated £20 to £30.

15 Jan
It's been a grim few days with some sort of gastric flu, no exercise whatsoever.
Weighed 15 stone 12lb this morning, but vomitting is not the best way to lose weight. However, perhaps I can regard this as an involuntary detox? I've had no coffee for days, though I've been drinking lucozade.
I am 100.7kg, so should get down below the 100 soon.

10 Jan 2015 - Not feeling well
Woke up late and feeling unwell, so I've had a day in, tidying my study / bedroom. No exercise.
Discovered that my start weight - 16 stone 5lb - is 104 kg, so dropping below 100 kg seems a good first goal. Found a Boots leaflet that said that losing 10% of your body weight reduces the risk of heart disease and diabetes. 10% of my start weight is 1 stone 8lbs, which should be achievable.
Yesterday I did the "walk to the next bus stop thing" and caught the bus at Sandy Thains. Apparently that's 0.9 miles!

Day off - 9 Jan
Yesterday was great! C picked me up at the back of 9 and we went up Millstone Hill. I left the map behind so we did the straight up and down. I hadn't remembered it being so steep and had to keep stopping to catch my breath which was embarrassing, but the view from the top made everything worthwhile.
Walk - 3 miles. Height - Millstone Hill is 409m, and the car park is at 100m, so 309m climb. Looking forward to being fit enough to do Bennachie.
Had D for dinner, so 3 course meal, but did neep and nip soup, chicken stir fry and pineapple upside down, so got my 5 a day in.
Today, Friday, I'm having a day off as I have Stuff To Do. Plus I'm still coughing. And the weather is foul.

The penny drops. 7 Jan 2015
Put on what is my current favourite outfit - black and white stripey dress (M & co, size 20) and black leggings (size 18) . Took a critical look in the mirror. Realised that I need to lose weight not only to fit into clothes I've outgrown, but to fit into some of the clothes I'm wearing now. On the plus side I still have weeks / months of wearing this dress in front of me!
Headed into Aberdeen. Went to "Fit to Dance for the over-50s" at City Moves. A bargain at £3. I was easily the fattest there. Plus there was an entire mirror wall, so there was no escaping the fact that I was the fattest there. Plus I was wearing my gym trousers (M&S, size 16, but surely missized!) and my black and white T-shirt which showed every bulge. A check showed it was size 14-16, so it's being put away till I've lost some (lots of) weight. The hour long class was fun.
Went to Books and Beans for a virtuous bowl of soup (parsnip and peach) and glass of milk.
Went to Marks and Spencer to spend some of my gift voucher. I know I said I was happy in my skin, but that doesn't apply to M & S changing rooms. Ended up with an "extra large" sports bra. Extra bonus - I have to fight my way into it, and fight my way out of it, so extra work outs right there.
Then I realised I felt ill. Not well at all, queasy and dizzy, and I still had lots to do. So I went to Cafe Nerro for a flat white and a bar of dark chocolate and felt much, much better.
All in all, today was the day I realised just how fat I am.

Jazzercise!
Went to my first Jazzercise class yesterday 5.45-6.30. I mostly walked through it, trying to follow what was happening. The music meant that I couldn't hear the instructor, but I could see what she was doing. There was one bit which involved hand weights, but only about half the class used them, and there's no way I could have coped with them.
I wore my Emily Wilding Davison t-shirt which is supposed to be baggy, but was tight fitting. So one thing I'm looking forward to once I've lost weight is wearing it as a baggy T-shirt.
Totally knackered after I got home and had an early night - I blame the ongoing cough.
Today, L, A and I walked to L's optician appointment. 4 miles. Then I walked a bit more round town, so probably 5 miles in total. Bought a new top - size 20 - in M & Co's sale for £5. One of the things I dislike about being at my heaviest ever is the lack of clothes which still fit.
Had my blood sugar checked at Will's pharmacy. 7.9. Up to 8 is ok for a non-fasting test. However, the pharmacist suggested I consider doing a fasting test for greater accuracy. I said I would get another non-fasting one done in 6 months and take it from there. She said that was fine.
Google maps says it's 0.4 miles from here to the Post Office bus stop.

5 Jan 2015.
Spent yesterday in bed with a sore throat and a cough. So I missed out on the family walk round the Tyrebagger. Plus I ate lots of soft stuff which soothed my throat - mainly chocolate pudding.
However, cousin A phoned. She had weighed herself and is 16 stone 1 1/4. So we're starting from almost the same point. We've agreed we'll go skating once we reach 14 stone! I love skating, but don't fancy doing it at over 16 stone.
I've signed up to do the Twilight walk 10k on 8 May. I'm currently an XXL T shirt size ( :( ) but I've signed up for an XL on the basis I'll not be XXL by then.
Did a Yogalates DVD with L. The "tums" part of Tums and Bums. I could not do it. She had her nose touching her knees. There is no way my nose could touch my knees. I had to give up. Perhaps I should aim to do this once a week and see if I improve? Perhaps it's my weight creating a physical barrier?
Cough-wise feeling much better today and looking forward to Jazzercise.

New Year's Resolution
31 December 2014
I posted this on Facebook :
New Year Resolution. This morning I weighed 16 stone 5lbs. I hereby resolve to post my weight on the last day of each month of 2015 and if it isn't less than the month before I give everyone permission to give me a kick up the backside. (Which, lets face it, is a pretty large target). I'm aiming to be healthier, so not interested in quick fixes. 7lb a month off would be ideal, though so long as the trend is downwards, and I feel that that I'm getting fitter, I'll be happy.
Went for a walk with A and M, over the Muir of Kinellar. Approx 3 miles
Went to the gym with John in the afternoon. Did 2 km on exercise bike at level 1 and 1 km at level 2. Plus did a few sit ups with the frame.
